Rail: We Cannot Afford It

2007 Small Business Hawaii Conference

So yesterday Mayor Mufi Hannemann selected the route for his expensive choo choo train. The proposed rail line will start somewhere in Kapolei and run to Ala Moana Shopping Center. Cost for building this portion of the rail line will be $3.8 billion! Billion! Say that a few times and think of all the taxes the city and state will continue to take away from you. Thanks Mayor Mufi. Thanks Governor Lingle.

The $3.8 billion is the City's estimate on the rail construction cost. It is more than likely the train will cost taxpayers at least $6.4 billion as repeatedly pointed out by Cliff Slater at HonoluluTraffic.com.

The cost of living in Hawaii continues to be high because of the increased taxes we are paying for this very expensive train. We can't afford this expensive debacle. Someone please stop this train!
