Royal Hawaiian Mint's "Hawaii Dala" was unveiled yesterday at a first day issue press event in the Pagoda Hotel. These private currency issues are like the Liberty Dollar and Berkshares issued on the mainland. Bernard vonNotHaus (left) is the person behind who was inspired to issue this new private currencies and coins. vonNotHaus was a longtime owner of the Royal Hawaiian Mint which has issued many types of commemorative coins over the last 40 years.
"Hawaii Dala" Silver Certificates are redeemable for Hawaii themed silver pieces.
"Hawaii Dala" silver pieces in various denominations.
