The Hawaii State Senate confirmed the nomination of Mark Recktenwald as Hawaii's newest Associate Justice to the State Supreme Court yesterday, March 13. Justice Recktenwald was nominated to the seat by Governor Linda Lingle after Associate Justice Steven Levinson retired in December 2008.
Recktenwald had been serving on the State Intermediate Court of Appeals since mid 2007. Before that he was Governor Lingle's Director of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA).
I think Justice Recktenwald is a welcome addition to the 5-member Hawaii State Supreme Court. He will hopefully bring to the court a more conservative view on cases that appear before it.
